peaceful habitations

You’ve got to do it. Every little bit – you’ve got to do it, do it, do it, and when you’re through, you can know who did it. ‘Cause you did it! You did it! You did it!

Whew…here we go. I haven’t done this in awhile!

I was that girl that had a blog on and off for most of her life. But quite honestly, I’ve forgotten what it’s like to write. I’m tired of thinking I’ll start sometime in the future, and then putting it off for another year. If not now, then when?

So ready or not world…here I come!

I’ve often wondered, if I started a blog again, what it would be about? You know, that whole “figure out your niche” thing that’s taking over the world, made me hit the pause button several times. But a few weeks ago, it came to me – the one thing I’ve been most passionate about the last several years.

Cultivating a peaceful home – both physically and spiritually.

The idea for this blog comes from Isaiah 32:18. It’s a promise from God for His children, His people. And if you’ve made Jesus you’re Lord, that’s you and me. But even if you haven’t, I hope you’ll stick around and that my babbling will bring some encouragement on your journey to make your house a home of peace.

Isaiah 32:18 reads: “My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;” KJV

The Passion translation says it this way, “My people will live free from worry in secure, quiet homes of peace.”

I just love that.

Home is so much more than the four walls that hold up your roof. I truly believe it should be the place where you recharge and take a hiatus from the outside world. Home shouldn’t be an additional source of stress. It should be the place you go to get away from that stress. It’s your safe space. It’s the place where you should feel the most creative, most inspired, and most alive!

The environment you wake up to each day affects you in more ways that you realize. When you walk through your door, drop your keys, and take off your shoes, does what you see around you put a smile on your face? Is home a place you can relax, breathe, create memories, and truly enjoy with the people you love?

There are so many ways to turn a house into a home and I can’t wait to tackle them!

What do you consider necessary to cultivating a home of peace? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section!
